We're Live

I've been involved in live production since 2007. I worked at a few FM radio stations outside of Little Rock Arkansas for a few years, and then in 2010 I started working at a large church, handling the AV in their live services.

Radio & Voiceover

The radio stations I worked at were small, which meant that you had to wear a lot of hats. Not only did I have to do a live show every day, but I had to write and produce ads, do maintenance on the software we used, setup the song playlists each day, and handle live remote broadcasts. Some of those remotes I would handle the technical side from the station, others I would be the guy on the air down at Dave's Discount Tires. When you're the guy at the station, you have to stay on your toes to make sure everything runs smoothly. You have to stay in contact with the team down at the location, you have to watch the clock and make sure songs and ads run when they're supposed to, no matter what happens down at the site. When you're the guy at the site on the air, you have to interact with the client who paid for the broadcast, Dave, make sure he's happy, keep the energy up with listeners, and make sure you hit all the copy points when you call in between songs. It's a huge number of things to manage, but it's a blast.

Since then, I've continued to do voiceover work both for my own projects and for clients.

Church

For over a decade, I've handled the audio visual needs, and streaming of two services a week, fifty weeks a year. I've managed a staff of both paid and volunteer workers to handle video and slide playback, lighting, soundboard, and cameras. There's a lot that goes into making sure a live project goes over well, both from a technical standpoint and a logistical one. When you're working with a team, everyone needs to know what's going to happen and how they fit into the machine.

In addition to the weekly services, I've had to handle weddings, memorial services, and other big events.
